CHINATOWN OUTREACH Event: Triangle Fire Centennial

March 14, 2011 @ 2:30 pm - 4:00 pm

2011 marks the 100 year anniversary of the Triangle Factory Fire. Local 23-25 and the garment workers’ union have observed this anniversary every year on March 25 to remember the importance of workplace safety and workers’ rights – especially the rights of immigrant women workers. For several decades, Chinese immigrants have been a key labor force in New York’s garment industry and active participants in the Triangle Fire commemorations.

There will be a CHINATOWN OUTREACH event on Monday, March 14, from 2:30-4:00 pm for groups and individuals interested in the Triangle Fire Centennial, at the Chen Dance Center, 70 Mulberry Street, 2nd floor. Please spread the word and come together for this important historic occasion! For further information, contact Lana Cheung at 212-929-2600 or May Y. Chen, 347-234-9387 – Local 23-25, Workers United/SEIU.
