Scalabrinian Father Antonio Demo came to Boston, Massachusetts from his native Lazzaretto di Bassano, Italy, in 1896. He was transferred to the Church of Our Lady of Pompei in 1897 to assist the pastor, who had been injured in a gas explosion at the church, then at 214 Sullivan Street. He served as pastor from 1898 to 1933, dying at Pompei in 1936. He said many masses for the victims of the Triangle Fire. This is a copy of an image found in the rectory of Saint Joseph’s parish, 5 Monroe Street, in 2001.
