In a commemorative parade that went from Union Square to Washington Square Park in New York City, Anabella Lenzu and her dancers performed a reinterpretation of the traditional funeral lamentation dances of Italian culture. This dance was part of the mourning ritual for centuries, and is an expression of grief that was historically enacted by professional mourners.
