1994

The Fire Next Time was a 1994 rally held to commemorate the fire through advocacy pushing for worldwide occupational safety by drawing a direct connection between 1911 and today. The flyer is so compelling because it sends a very explicit message: “This is what happened in 1911, it’s still happening today, and next time it could be any industrial employee, or any employee at all who has to work in unsafe conditions.” The flyer calls for public action against the fire next time.

Commentary

A very interesting aspect of this flyer is that it is written in English and in Spanish. It not only speaks about industrial lives all over the world, but the fact that it is written in Spanish reflects how Spanish-speaking and Latino populations are going through the same pains that Triangle workers went through 100 years ago. – Carolina Herrera
