It’s the personal story of an immigrant who lost her life at the 1911 Triangle Fire combined with the art of that era. \n\n\n\nMarch 23\, 11am-12pm (Can’t make the date? Replays are sent automatically so you can enjoy the video on your own schedule!)Cost: $40 \n\n\n\nIn honor of the anniversary of the historic Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire of 1911 (March 25)\, and Women’s History Month\, this lecture explores the NYC immigrant experience from many angles. First\, the Ashcan School of Art showcased everyday life in NYC\, especially the Lower East Side. The art set the tone as artists depicted the bustling streets of a combination of grittiness and beauty. What makes this lecture unique is the story of Annie Nicholas\, an ancestor of Debbie’s family\, who died at age 18 in the Triangle fire.
