In honor of Labor Day 2011, the Eugene Oregon Register-Guard published “Triangle tragedy: A deadly fire in a New York sweatshop 100 years ago led to labor reforms,” by Randi Bjornstad, September 4, 2011.
In commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the deadly fire at the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory in New York City, the U.S. Department of Labor is hosting a new website and audio tour optimized for smartphones. With audio narrated by Secretary of Labor Hilda L. Solis and other Labor Department officials, the website highlights 21 locations throughout the New York City metropolitan area with roles in the March 25, 1911, fire. The New York State Insurance Fund published Governor Andrew M. Cuomo’s Statement On The 100th Anniversary Of The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire and a series of commemorative white papers about the effects of the Triangle Fire.
