Bernhardt Labor Journalism Prize – Call for Entries

August 30, 2022 All day

The New York Labor History Association’s Bernhardt prize is an award of $1000 given for an article that furthers the understanding of the history of working people. The prize and the forum honor the vision of the late Debra E. Bernhardt, who worked in so many different realms to share the hidden histories of working people.

Articles that put current issues like work, housing, organizing, health, or education in a historical context AND articles about historical events are both welcome. The work should be published in print or online between August 31, 2021 and August 30 2022.

Deadline:  Tuesday August 30, 2022  ENTER HERE

The winner will be announced at a forum on labor journalism with NYU’s Bobst Library on Thursday, October 13, 2022 at 6pm.

The award is sponsored by the New York Labor History Association and NYU’s Tamiment Library/Robert F. Wagner Labor Archives and co-sponsored by LaborArts, Metro New York Labor Communications Council, and NYC Central Labor Council, AFL-CIO.
