South of 14th Street: A Play About the Triangle Fire

Seekonk High School in Seekonk, Massachusetts, presents
the premiere of “South of 14th Street,” an original student-written
and directed play by junior Juliana Centracchio, highlighting the
tragic events of the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire of 1911.

The play sheds light on the devastating working conditions that led to one of the most infamous industrial disasters in American history, while honoring the lives lost and the labor reforms that followed.

Centracchio, a dedicated member of the SHS Theatre Company since her freshman year, has already made a name for herself as a talented actor. Now, in her directorial debut, she leads the company with her own original script, demonstrating both her creative vision and leadership.

“This play is a powerful reminder of the importance of workers’ rights and how far we’ve come,” said Centracchio. “I wanted to bring this story to life on stage not just as a piece of history, but as a lesson that still resonates today.”
